Privacy policy

This policy explains how Ahmet Aksay, trading as Schola Education, [address] (“Schola”, “we”), handles personal data in Schola Exam Builder.

Teachers' data

We collect your name, e-mail address, school, password (stored only as a secure hash), the papers you create, your usage of allowances and your payment records. We use them to provide the Service, keep your account secure, bill you and improve the Service. Card payments are processed by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, which handles your payment details under its own privacy policy; we never see or store card numbers.

Students' data

When a teacher uploads students' scanned work, the scans may contain students' names and handwriting. The teacher or school decides why this data is processed (the controller); Schola processes it only on their instructions to suggest marks and produce reports (the processor). We do not use students' work to advertise, build profiles or train AI models.

• Retention: scanned work and marking results are kept for 90 days after upload, then deleted, unless the teacher deletes them earlier. Reports the teacher has downloaded are under the teacher's control.
• Access: only the teacher who uploaded the work (and, for school accounts, the school's account manager) can see it.

Service providers

We use carefully chosen providers to run the Service: hosting (DigitalOcean, Amsterdam, Netherlands), payments (Paddle.com), AI processing (Anthropic, to read scans and write questions and suggested marks; under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models), and e-mail (Resend, Ireland, for messages from the Service; Namecheap Private Email for our own mailbox). Some providers may process data outside your country; we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Students or parents should contact their school, which controls their data; we will help the school respond. Contact: info@scholaeducation.com

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), access is restricted to the account owner, passwords are hashed, and backups are encrypted. Scanned work is deleted automatically after 90 days.
